In-Home Consultation

Pre-requisite for all other training. An in-home consultation is personalized according to the goals of the individual dog owner. It will cover the basics of dog training and behavior, the importance of rules and guidance, and how to provide positive feedback and effective yet humane consequences so a dog can learn and understand what is expected of them

 

One-on-One Training

Type 1- Basic, Intermediate Obedience, and Manners training will include any commands you wish your dog to know and more advanced  sessions will incorporate distance, duration and a variety of distractions. We will discover what motivates your dog to work for you.

 

Type 2- Behavioral Issue sessions work with a dog and his or her owner during managed situations where a particular behavior problem is addressed. We will work with you to teach you how to calmly and efficiently respond to and control your dog’s behavior. These sessions focus on how to provide timely feedback and how to instil a new desired behavior in your dog.

 

Pack Walks

A Pack Walk is a 1-2 hour activity where dog owners learn techniques that will teach their dogs to focus on them in situations with a high level of distraction. You will learn to establish rules and boundaries and maintain control during the walk. These hikes will include; how to properly introduce your dog to other dogs, recognize proper play, interrupt inappropriate behaviors with other dogs.  You will also learn to use correct body language and to understand what your dog is trying to communicate. The walk is usually followed with socialization, or managed off-leash playtime.

 

Socialization Sessions

These are private sessions held at homes with other dogs or dog parks in which we teach a dog owner to learn to observe and understand the dog’s communication. You will understand and work with your dog's temperament and learn to use leadership skills.  We teach the dogs to remain calm in excitable situations which emphasize proper greeting rituals, reliable recall, and other desireable behaviors under heavy distractions.

 

Board & Train Program

Either basic training to prepare a dog for home life or for dogs that require special training and re-education due to additional or unique behavior challenges. Activities per day include: walks, hike, playtime/ socialization with other dogs. Training Activities such as fetching, obedience behaviors and in-home manners. Food must be provided by the owners including, treats and chew bones, as well as any special equipment necessary.

 

Choosing a Dog for you or your family

These are private sessions in your home to help you choose a breed or a type of dog that would fit into your life style. I cover the basics of puppy and adult evaluation, as well as breeder evaluation. I will teach you how to introduce your new dog into your family, the basics of dog behaviors and communication, and troubleshooting. I will also have you make an assessment of the energy levels, personalities and other important traits of all members of your family.

I will then help you adopt the perfect dog that will match and enrich your lifestyle. Once you have determined your criteria and breed (or mix) and have found a breeder, a shelter, or the dog you would like to adopt, I will help you be sure it's the right match by performing assessments with you so you can make an informed final decision. My goal is to minimize the dogs that are euthanized or returned to shelters due to inappropriate knowledge of training or a lack of knowledge of temperament/ breed, and to help you find a balanced dog for your home.

 

Puppy Package

Includes 4 sessions:

In Home Consultation (2 sessions)

potty and crate train

properly socialize and desensitize your puppy to common everyday stimulation and distractions. Includes a socialization program.

Walking your puppy (1 session) How to properly walk your puppy around a variety of distracting human environments and keep your puppy focused on you. How to properly introduce people during your walks
